one of my young people asked me if BDSM is wrong... Its an interesting question. My gut feeling would be getting pleasure out of hurting someone or being hurt really isn't healthy. I mean we wouldn't promote self harm becuase it relieves stress temporarily. But then the other half of my brain thinks maybe I think that becuase I don't understand it. I'm fairly sure its not mentioned in the bible... Is it OK if the people involved are married?
Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Good news...Bad news...

I'll deal with the good news first:
I'VE GOT A JOB! Alright, it's only for 3 weeks until the end of the month, but its work! One of the schools I do supply for has a Year 3 teacher off sick so I'm stepping. Unfrtunately it takes me back to working a 40+ hour week (for which I do only get paid for 30 hours) but the pay is good and will cover my mortgage and bills for 2 months. So the For Sale sign is being kept at bay until at least May now!!

The bad news is that Rob and I have cooled things off, again! Things were really good between us, but what with him working evenings and me now working during the day, we hardly get to see each other. Also, we were getting quite a bit of flack from his friends and family (who he still lives with) because they are all vying for his very precious tim off too. Oh well...

Hope the assignments are coming on...!

Just so you may have some idea why I was so tired last week and also I would really like you to pray for this little girl. She lives in the jungles of Thailand in the mountains. Her name is Naw Sa Paw, she is 10 years old and has been blind since she was 2 - when she has cronic diarhoeria and as a result lost her sight (that what i understood, some info was lost in translation). The little one at the front right.

Yes I can post again as I managed to remember my user name and password. If anyone wants a distraction when doing their essay, then why not have a look at Student Survivor? It is like ahving a virtual pet, except you have to look after a virtual student! If you send them to the pub they come back with a traffic cone. It is designed for sixth from students to think about university life, but is also quite fun. Also, Yoofwork is hilarious and rings true with a number of my youth work experiences. Take care...

Hay ya guys!

How are you all doing? How are you all groovin?

I just got in from youth group - I was teaching on the Holy Spirit tonight. It was well excitin' - one girl got filled with the Holy Spirit and it was soooo cool! I am really excited about what God is doing cos we have a small group of about 5 or 6 on wednesday nights and the Holy Spirit is really at work in them! One of them is setting up a Christian Union in her school and another wants to see the gospel impact her school. It so coool! As you may have gathered I am rather excited! hehe! I am realising the importance of investing in the few for the impact of the masses.

GOD IS GROOOOOOVVVYYY!

Just so you know i have applied for a new job in Hull as a church based youth worker but part of the job is also to train leaders so please pray for me.... The closing date is 18th November.. Bricks without Straw

That was the title of my sermon on Sunday based on exodus 5. So I talked about how young people are like bricks without straw because they are not being exposed to Christianity/Jesus and aren't being led to freedom in the Promised Land. I really challenged the congregation to support our local schools work and youth ministries.

I'm off to Ross-on-Wye next week for an interview. I'm getting all excited about it actually! Got to do a team building exercise, a talk in the church service, a talk to the youth goup + an interview! Oh and go bowling with the 30+ youth group too! So prayer would be greatly appreciated for that!

Just to keep you updated, Rob and I are "getting to know eachother"! He came to the service on Sunday with 5 mates of his to support me preaching;-) He's also got a lot of books on our list...

My first ever blog contribution (but remember that I don't have a mobile phone either!) - so.....all very exciting! Just returned from my week in France (Lot region, Carennec to be precise), so now rested and ready for the college fray on this Monday morning.

Just to say that I felt the YMM course began really positively - and thanks to you all for your energy and enthusiasm during the week. I am sure we are going to have some great times ahead of us. I look forward to keeping in touch, and of course to reading through your assignments when they come (ouch!). But remember, the staff are here to support you.

Our 14-18+ youth group are doing the service on Sunday evening. Responsibilities were allocated last week. Having struggled to be inspired by Exodus 5 so in my absence the other leaders thought they'd put me down to preach!!
So Exodus 5 it is! "Bricks and Straw" But actually could be quite good looking at how Christians face tough times, but that we have to keep building up for future generations and for God's kingdom to come here on earth. Could get in quite a lot about my vision for youthwork in the church...

Yello!BTW Toyah is aka Amy (after Toyah Wilcox...?)Well it's back to the grindstone...had 9 phone msgs left by a fellow youth leader stressing about the half term social that's organised and another youth leader had returned my letter unopened saying that he didn't want anything to do with me unless it was church-related - it was a letter sent to leaders at that church asking for support and prayer!! Then i find out that i can't get hold of the resource book for the teaching sesh 2m cos another leader's gone on holiday! Oh how good to be back? We're certainly fighting a war here!A passage came to me today though, that just outlines our motives for what we're doing: 1 Tim 4:7-16

Being a blog novice -just thought that I would try a post - praying that you all got home safe, I arrived to a youth club of 35 youngsters, thought I cannot handle this tonight - but no choice, took them for a night walk in the woods and had the most amazing God conversation with some of them that have nothing to do with church - turns out that God knows what need, more than I do!
